Tournament organizers have set themselves the task of preserving the traditions of the Lomonosov Tournament, held annually since 1978 and had the same basic purpose.
The results of participation in the Tournament may help to notice talented students who have shown interest in various subjects, and encourage educational organizations and enthusiasts to organize them external activities. Formal side of the process i.e. participants evaluation, setting awarding criteria and winners declaration is not the main goal of the tournament.
Participants are offered tasks in mathematics, mathematical games, physics, astronomy, earth sciences, chemistry, biology, history, linguistics, literature. Tasks are performed for students of grades 5–11 and can be quite difficult for those who are studying in primary school.
Two forms of participation is offered an individual participation or within a team. Teams are formed by mutual request of the participants.
Basic type of participation is online participation.
We encourage schools, universities, and other educational organizations having available classrooms and willing to host a tournament to organize the tournament in person. Following the traditions of the Lomonosov Tournament it is recommended to hold a contest for each subject in its audience (participants can move freely from audiences).
In connection with recent adoption of the Order of the Olympiads and its subsequent amendments a set of additional restrictions and requirements was imposed on organizing committee and participants. A second round became mandatory for all participants including non-graduate students. Moreover restrictive quotas were set for all participants including non-graduate students. Thus a contradiction between main goals of the Tournament and newly imposed rules and regulations arose.
At the same time according to the order of the Olympiads its rules are not applicable to tournaments having less than one year history. Thus Olympiad, organized for the first time, can be carried out without all mentioned restrictions. (In the future, the organizers are planning to choose a convenient and legally correct form of the Tournament that can be not included into the List of Tournaments and Olympiads and won't be affected by regulations mentioned above).
